STORMS ON TUESDAY EVENING TO BE FOLLOWED BY MORE HEAT TODAY

Stormy weather moved into the Greater Rome area on Tuesday evening and will be followed by extreme heat again today.  The National Weather Service predicts that high temperatures will be in the mid 90s with heat index values as high as 101 for this midweek; skies will be sunny with a 10 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms late this afternoon.  Tonight is anticipated to be mostly clear with lows around 70.

Two-tenths of an inch of rain was reported at the Russell Regional Airport in Rome on Tuesday evening.
