TROUT UNLIMITED CHILI COOK OFF SET FOR THIS SATURDAY

The 24th annual Trout Unlimited Chili Cook Off will take place this Saturday, October 19th at Ridgeferry Park in Rome. Gates will open at 10:30 am.

Ronnie Cooper, Coosa Valley Chapter #519 of Trout Unlimited, indicates that attendees will help determine the 2019 Chili Champ.  The award for People’s Choice is at stake.  Competitors have an opportunity to win cash prizes in the Judges’ Choice awards.  There will also be an award for Best Cook Site.

A top prize of $1,500 is up for grabs in this year’s event.  Registration is still available online at coosavalley.tu.org through Thursday.  Cooper asserts that cook teams may also register at Ridgeferry Park as late as Saturday morning to compete in the Chili Cook Off.

Some very interesting chili recipes have been submitted over the years, says Cooper.

The Chili Cook Off is Trout Unlimited’s major fundraiser of the year.  Every bit of the proceeds will stay in this community, according to Cooper.  Money will go primarily towards education and conservation.

Admission to the Chili Cook off is $5.  Kids five and under will be admitted for free.  Parking north of the railroad tracks is free of charge; parking south of the tracks is $5.
