REGISTRATION CONTINUES THIS WEEK FOR TOYS FOR TOTS

Registration for Toys for Tots is taking place this week in the Wilder Center at First United Methodist Church in downtown Rome.  It began Monday and will continue daily from 10 am until 4 pm through Friday.

Those who wish to receive toys for their children through the program during this holiday season should bring proof of residency, as well as Social Security numbers for both parents and children, asserts Buzz Wachsteter, a member of the Exchange Club of Rome.

A registration make-up day is slated for Saturday, November 16th.  Toys will be distributed on Saturday, December 14th.

Toys for Tots is an initiative of the United States Marine Corps Reserve and is coordinated locally by the Rome Exchange Club.

Volunteers are sought to assist with Toys for Tots this year, says Wachsteter.  You can also contribute to this effort by donating a new, unwrapped toy into one of many receptacles that have been placed around town.  And, of course, monetary donations are also accepted.

Those who would like to know more about getting involved with this year’s Toys for Tots campaign should call Linda Hatcher at (706) 506-4635.

Wachsteter indicates that Toys for Tots teams partners with several programs  each year to ensure that local children in need will have something special at Christmas, including the Floyd County Sheriff’s Office’s Sheriff Santa.
