RECORD TRAVEL PREDICTED BY AAA FOR THE HOLIDAY SEASON

It’s almost time to hit the road for the holidays!  AAA, The Auto Club Group, anticipates that more Americans than ever – 115.6 million – will travel during this holiday season.  That number of travelers is the highest ever recorded in the nearly 20 years that AAA has been tracking holiday travel and represents an uptick of 3.9 percent over last year.  Most will reach their destinations via automobile.

Paula Twisdale, Vice President of AAA Travel, asserts, “Holiday cheer is at an all-time high this year, with unemployment at historically low levels and noted improvements in both disposable income and household net worth.  Travelers should be getting used to crowded highways and airports, as this marks the eighth straight year of new record-high travel volumes for the year-end  holidays.”

The year-end travel period is defined by AAA as Sunday, December 21st until Wednesday, January 1st. Delays are expected to be at their worst on Thursday, December 26th, according to global transportation analytics company INRIX.
