COMMISSIONER DAVIS ENCOURAGES LOCAL PARTICIPATION IN THE 2020 CENSUS

Rome City Commissioner Wendy Davis continues to encourage all Romans to participate in the 2020 Census. This will determine the population of each of the 50 states, the District of Columbia and five US territories. Census Day 2020 is coming up on April 1st.

The Census is required by the US Constitution and has been conducted every 10 years since 1790, according to the US Census Bureau. Federal funding is determined by census data, as are Congressional and state legislative districts, asserts Davis.

Davis adds that infants are the most under-counted portion of our population, even though everyone from babies to senior citizens should be counted in the Census.

There will be three means by which to respond to the 2020 Census – online, by phone, or by mail. Learn more online at www.2020census.gov.
