THINKING OF ADOPTING A PET? TAKE A TRIAL RUN WITH FLOYD COUNTY PAWS

Floyd County PAWS (or Public Animal Welfare Services) aims to boost their adoptions in 2020. So if you have been thinking about opening your home to a cat or dog, PAWS Director Jeff Mitchell invites you to stop by the shelter at 99 North Avenue. Trial adoptions are currently available whereby a potential owner may spend a little time with any given animal before deciding whether or not to adopt that animal permanently. And if it does not work out with that particular animal, Mitchell states that your feedback can help to find that pet’s forever home.

Adoption fees are $40 for dogs and puppies, $35 for cats and kittens. If you decide to adopt, Mitchell advises that you take your new pet to the vet just to make sure that he or she is healthy.

Floyd County PAWS is open each Monday through Friday from 9 am to 5 pm and on Saturdays from 1 pm to 5 pm. For additional information, stop by the shelter, call (706) 236-4537 or search for PAWS on social media.

PAWS assisted Floyd County Public Works this past Monday with the rescue of a dog that had been stuck in a drain pipe.
