HOWARD FINSTER’S PARADISE GARDEN TO HOST NEW EXHIBIT IN CONJUNCTION WITH TRAVELING SMITHSONIAN EXHIBITION IN SUMMERVILLE

A new exhibit will open at Howard Finster’s Paradise Garden in conjunction with the arrival in Summerville of a traveling exhibition by the Smithsonian Museum on Saturday, March 7th.

The Smithsonian exhibit, “Crossroads: Change in Rural America” is touring the state of Georgia, thanks to a partnership with Georgia Humanities called Museum on Main Street. It will be on display at the Summerville Depot from March 7th through April 18th.

Summerville Collects: Local Treasures by Howard Finster” is an exhibit of rarely seen works by late folk artist Howard Finster. A special event has been set for March 7th from 2pm until 4 pm to celebrate the opening of this exhibit, says Tina Cox, Executive Director of the Paradise Garden Foundation.

This event will also feature traditional ‘old time’ music by Joseph Evans and Russell Cook.

Cox adds that Creative Arts Workshops will be held at Paradise Garden from April 6th through 9th. The Outsider Art Trail Tour will take place on Saturday, April 18th. For more information on these events, search for Howard Finster’s Paradise Garden on Facebook.
