INCREASED TESTING HAS LED TO UPTICK IN CONFIRMED CASES OF COVID-19

Increased testing has led to an uptick in confirmed cases of COVID-19, says Logan Boss, Public Information Officer for the Georgia Department of Public Health’s Northwest Health District. The test positivity rate, however, is on the decline statewide.

Boss reminds Northwest Georgians that COVID-19 testing is available to all who want it. It is wise to make an appointment in advance, though walk-ups will not be turned away. Information is available on the DPH website.

Testing allows health officials to identify individuals that are currently ill and contagious. They can then be isolated to prevent the transmission of the virus and, of course, receive treatment. Their close contacts may also be identified and placed in quarantine, states Boss.
