ATLANTA BRAVES BLANKED FOR SECOND NIGHT IN A ROW BY PHILADELPHIA PHILLIES
The Atlanta Braves were blanked for the second night in a row by the Philadelphia Phillies 4-0 last night in the middle game of a three game series at Turner Field. The Braves’ offense has now scored only one run in the last 36 innings; that was a solo home run from Evan Gattis in the Braves’ 1-0 win over the Miami Marlins on Sunday.
Mike Minor took the loss for Atlanta; he gave up three runs and seven hits, walked two and struck out five in seven and one-third innings of work. Kyle Kendrick was credited with the win for Philadelphia. Kendrick limited the Braves to three hits over seven scoreless innings, walked two and struck out four.
Among those runs surrendered by Minor was a solo home run in the top of the fifth to Carlos Ruiz, who drove in two runs for the Phillies last night.
The Braves hope to salvage a win in their series with the Phillies in the finale today at 12:10 pm. The game will not be broadcast on WLAQ AM 1410 as we will be airing the Rush Limbaugh Show at that time and are under contractual agreement to refrain from pre-empting Rush. Tune into WLAQ this weekend as the Braves head to Miami to take on the Marlins.
