EAT A FISH, SAVE A RIVER AT CRBI FISH FRY, GREEN EXPO AND CATFISH KISSIN’ CONTEST
Make your plans to have lunch with the Coosa River Basin Initiative tomorrow at the 11th annual Fish Fry and Green Expo. It’s set for 11 am until 3 pm at the Rome First United Methodist Church. US farm-raised catfish filets will be served, along with hushpuppies, cole slaw, cheese grits, tea and homemade desserts. The Green Expo will feature a variety of exhibits dedicated to water and energy conservation.
New for this year’s Fish Fry and Green Expo – the Catfish Kissin’ Contest, in which 24 local celebrities are competing to kiss a 10 pound catfish by raising money for the CRBI. Vote for your favorite online at www.coosa.org. (We recommend that you vote for WLAQ/95.7 FM The Ridge’s own Scott Wheeler!)
CRBI Executive Director Joe Cook says funds raised from the Fish Fry and Green Expo and the Catfish Kissin’ Contest will go towards the organization’s mission of protecting the Coosa River and its tributaries.
Tickets for the CRBI’s 11th annual Fish Fry and Green Expo are $9 and $7 and can be purchased in a variety of locations, including www.coosa.org and the CRBI office on Broad Street in downtown Rome.
