EAT A FISH, SAVE A RIVER AT CRBI FISH FRY THIS SATURDAY

Written by Matt Davis on November 7, 2013. Posted in News/Weather

The Coosa River Basin Initiative invites you to eat a fish and save a river at their 12th annual Fish Fry, Green Expo and Catfish Kissin’ Contest this Saturday, November 9th at the Rome First United Methodist Church.

Patrons will be treated to fried US farm-raised catfish filets, hushpuppies, cole slaw, cheese grits, tea and homemade desserts.  They will also get to learn about environmentally sound products via the Green Expo.  But perhaps the highlight of the event will happen at 2 pm when lucky participants in the Catfish Kissin’ Contest pucker up to kiss that catfish, according to CRBI Executive Director Joe Cook.

Tickets for Saturday’s Fish Fry are $9 and $7 for small fries and are available  online at www.coosa.org or at the CRBI office on Broad Street in downtown Rome, Lavender Mountain Hardware in Armuchee, Kroger in Rome and at Cedar Creek Park in Cave Spring.

For more information about the 12th annual Coosa River Basin Initiative Fish Fry, Green Expo and Catfish Kissin’ Contest, call the CRBI at (706) 232-2724.
