GEORGIA GENERAL ASSEMBLY BACK IN SESSION TODAY
The Georgia General Assembly will resume their work under the Gold Dome in Atlanta today after having a week of recess last week for budget hearings.
State Representative Eddie Lumsden says there could be some positive things ahead for education during this legislative session. He anticipates that funding will be restored to the HOPE Scholarship program this year.
Lumsden also expects legislators to take a very close look at health care reforms during this legislative session. He says that lawmakers will follow up on a request from Governor Nathan Deal to authorize the Board of Community Health to apply provider fees to hospitals just as they do for nursing homes.
This week will mark the second full week of the Georgia General Assembly’s 40-day session.
