LOCAL HISTORIAN TO DELIVER CIVIL WAR SYMPOSIUM TONIGHT
Local historian Kenneth Studdard will present a Civil War Symposium this evening at the Rome Floyd County Library.
The lecture is entitled, “Of Valor and Suffering: A Narrative of Rome in ‘The War’” and is set to get underway at 6:30 pm in the Coosa Room of the library. Studdard says that he anticipates a very interesting talk.
Studdard is the owner of Dogwood Books and Antiques in downtown Rome and an avid Southern history buff.
Tonight’s symposium is free and open to the public. The Civil War Symposium Series is sponsored by the Greater Rome Convention and Visitors Bureau and is hosted by the Rome-Floyd County Library. The goal of the series is to educate the community on this area’s rich Civil War history during the sesquicentennial of the war.
