MCCANN TO REPLACE INJURED FREEMAN IN 2013 MLB ALL STAR GAME

Written by Matt Davis on July 15, 2013. Posted in Sports

Freddie Freeman will have to wait a little longer to play in his first All-Star game.  A thumb injury will keep the Atlanta Braves first baseman from playing in the 2013 MLB All-Star Game on Tuesday night.  Braves catcher Brian McCann has been tapped to serve as Freeman’s replacement on the National League roster.  This will be McCann’s seventh All-Star game.  He earned six consecutive All-Star selections from 2006-2011 and missed last year due to a right shoulder injury.  McCann was named All-Star MVP in 2010, thanks to his game-winning double that year.

Freeman is still expected to be on hand for All-Star festivities.

The 2013 MLB All-Star Game is set for Tuesday (tomorrow) night at Citi Field, home of the New York Mets.
