SIX PEOPLE DIE ON GEORGIA’S ROADS OVER NEW YEAR’S TRAVEL PERIOD
Six people were killed on Georgia’s roads over the New Year’s holiday travel period, which got underway at 6 pm on Friday and ended last night at midnight. The Georgia State Patrol investigated some 585 traffic crashes that resulted in 266 injuries and three fatalities. There were no fatalities in Troop A, which covers Northwest Georgia.
State troopers arrested some 262 people for impaired driving over the New Year’s holiday travel period.
During last year’s 78 hour New Year’s holiday travel period, state troopers investigated 296 crashes that resulted in 172 injuries. Troopers investigated seven of the 13 fatal crashes reported across the state and arrested 262 people for impaired driving.
