REGULAR SEASON WINDING DOWN FOR LOCAL COLLEGE BASKETBALL TEAMS; ELLISON NAMED CAPITAL ONE ACADEMIC ALL-AMERICA

Tune in for Berry College basketball tonight on WLAQ AM 1410.  The Vikings and Lady Vikings will close out the 2011-2012 season against Covenant College at the Cage Center on the Berry College campus.  The women will play at 6 pm, followed by the men at 8 pm.  The games will also be broadcast online at www.wlaq1410.com.

We’ll have Shorter University basketball on Thursday night on 95.7 FM The Ridge as the Hawks and Lady Hawks host Southern States Athletic Conference rival Lee University.  Tip off is set for 6 pm for the women and 8 pm for the men.  The games will be aired online at www.theridge957.com.  Shorter’s basketball teams will close out the 2011-2012 regular season on Saturday on the road against Truett McConnell.

In other local college basketball news, Shorter Lady Hawk Kelly Ellison has been named to the 2012 Capital One College Division Academic All-America basketball team as chosen and announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).  According to a Shorter sports release, the Capital One College Division Academic All-America basketball teams are made up of student-athletes from NAIA, Canadian and two-year institutions.   The All-America comes just one month after Ellison’s Capital One Academic All-District selection.
