SHORTER UNIVERSITY FALLS TO MARS HILL IN HOME OPENER

Written by Matt Davis on September 13, 2013. Posted in Sports

The Shorter University football team fell to Mars Hill University 41-30 in the Hawks’ home opener last night at Barron Stadium.  The game was interrupted by a weather/lightning delay of more than an hour and didn’t end until almost midnight.  Shorter owned a 23-14 lead at halftime, but Mars Hill came charging back in the second half to win the first ever meeting between the teams.  The non-conference loss left the Hawks 0-2 for the season.  They’ll return to action on Saturday, September 21st at 7 pm with a Gulf South Conference road match against Valdosta State University.
