THE SAINTS COME MARCHING IN
Who Dat? Why, it’s the Champions of Super Bowl 44, the New Orleans Saints. The Saints beat the Indianapolis Colts 31-17 to win the Super Bowl in Miami, Florida on Sunday night. This was the first ever appearance in the big game for the Saints. New Orleans’ quarterback Drew Brees was named this year’s Super Bowl MVP.

COLLEGE BASKETBALL UPDATE
In your local college basketball update, both the Berry men and women nabbed victories from Auburn Montgomery on Saturday. The Lady Vikings beat the Lady Senators 76-61, while the Vikings picked up an 80-75 overtime win over the Senators. Berry’s teams will hit the road to take on Brewton Parker this Thursday night. The women will play at 6 p.m., followed by the men at 8 p.m. The next Berry games to be aired on WLAQ AM 1410 will be next Saturday at Southern Poly. The women will play at 2p.m., followed by the men at 4 p.m. The games will also be aired online at www.wlaq1410.com.

horter’s men defeated Faulkner 69-61 on Saturday. Shorter’s women will host Emmanuel tonight at 6 p.m. at the Winthrop King Centre on the Shorter College campus. Shorter’s women and men will be on the road to take on Southern Poly on Thursday night in games set for 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. respectively. Road games are again set for Saturday against Brewton-Parker at 2 p.m. for the women and 4 p.m. for the men. All of the aforementioned games will be broadcast on 95.7 FM The Ridge and www.theridge957.com.

WLAQ TO BROADCAST DARLINGTON BASKETBALL TUESDAY NIGHT
WLAQ AM 1410 will continue its coverage of local high school basketball this Tuesday night as Darlington hosts Mt. Zion. The girls will play at 6 p.m., followed by the boys at 7:30 p.m. The games will also be aired on www.wlaq1410.com.

BERRY, SHORTER BASEBALL UPDATE
In your college baseball scores from over the weekend, Berry took a 10-8 win over Belhaven in Jackson, Mississippi on Friday. Then, Berry was swept by Belhaven in a double header on Saturday, 9-5 and 8-4. Berry will be in Santa Clarita, California for games with the Masters this Friday and Saturday.
The Shorter Hawks were swept in a double header with Savannah College of Art and Design 3-2 and 4-3 in Savannah on Saturday. Shorter is set to take on USC-Beaufort on the road today at 2 p.m.

BERRY SOFTBALL WINS FIRST-EVER DOUBLE HEADER
Berry College swept their first ever intercollegiate softball games on Saturday, with back-to-back 10-0 and 16-1 victories over Wesleyan at Berry. The Lady Vikings will host LaGrange in a double header this Saturday at noon.
