UNEMPLOYMENT DOWN IN METRO ROME, UNCHANGED IN NWGA IN OCTOBER
The Georgia Department of Labor has reported that the preliminary unemployment rate for metro Rome declined to 9.5 percent in October, down from 9.6 percent in September. Metro Rome’s jobless rate stood at 11.3 percent in October 2011.
The rate declined due to an increase of 600 new jobs in metro Rome.
The GDOL has also reported that the preliminary unemployment rate for the Northwest Georgia region was unchanged from September to October at 8.7 percent. The rate stood at 10.1 percent in October 2011.
Metro Athens continued to have Georgia’s lowest unemployment rate at 6.2 percent, while metro Dalton had the highest at 11.3 percent.
Georgia’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate declined to 8.7 percent in October, down from 9.0 percent in September. The state’s jobless rate stood at 9.7 percent in October 2011.
