SIGN UP FOR SHERIFF SANTA PROGRAM IS THIS WEEK

The Floyd County Sheriff’s Office will hold registration for the Sheriff Santa program today until Friday from 12 pm to 5 pm each day at Good Neighbor Ministries, located at 208 East Second Street in Rome.

Parents are urged to bring social security cards (for both parent and child), a photo ID and proof of residency when they register, states Anthony Cromer,  FCSO Public Information Officer.

Sheriff Santa is open to children ages 0-15.  The program teams with Toys for Tots to provide toys to the younger kids, according to Mechelle Cliatt, FCSO Administrative Assistant.

Donations to Sheriff Santa are now being accepted at the Sheriff’s Offices at the Floyd County Jail on New Calhoun Highway and at 3 Government Plaza. Hats, coats, mobile devices and, of course, toys are sought.

Cromer adds that the program is intended to ensure that local families in need have a Merry Christmas.

Distribution will take place on Saturday, December 14th.  The FCSO also has a Sheriff Santa program for senior citizens, for which distribution will be held on December 18th.
