OVER 97,000 HAVE BEEN INFECTED WITH CORONAVIRUS ACROSS GEORGIA, CITY AND COUNTY LEADERS TO HOLD JOINT MEETING AMID A RISING NUMBER OF LOCAL CASES

More than 97,000 people in Georgia have been infected with coronavirus, per the state Department of Public Health.

According to the latest report by the DPH, there were 97,064 confirmed cases of COVID-19 statewide as of 3 pm on Monday afternoon. There were 2,878 deaths related to the virus. In Floyd County, there were 594 confirmed cases and 15 fatalities. Gwinnett County led the state in number of confirmed cases with 9,787. Fulton County had the most fatalities with 316.

The Rome and Floyd County Commissions will gather in a joint meeting this Wednesday in order to discuss the rising number of COVID-19 cases locally. This special meeting will be held at 3 pm in the ballroom at the Forum River Center and will be open to the public. Those who plan to attend are asked to wear a mask and to practice social distancing.
