ON TAP FOR THIS WEEKEND – BACON FEST AND CAR SHOW IN CAVE SPRING, ARTSFEST IN DOWNTOWN ROME

Cave Spring’s 2022 Bacon Fest and Car Show is scheduled for this Saturday, May 7th from 10 am to 3 pm at Rolator Park.

Larry Dolan, Executive Director of the Cave Spring Downtown Development Authority, attests that if you like bacon, you’ll be in ‘hog heaven’ at this event. Admission is $5.

The event is a fundraiser for the Cave Spring DDA. Dolan urges attendees to spend some time exploring that community. For information on Cave Spring and Bacon Fest, visit www.cavespringga.com.

Also on tap for this Saturday – the annual ArtsFest to be hosted by the Rome Downtown Development Authority.

According to a media release by Rome’s Office of Downtown Development:

The Office of Downtown Development (DDA) invites the community to the annual ArtsFest on Saturday, May 7 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The event will be spread throughout Historic Downtown Broad Street and features over fifty-five arts and craft vendors as well as live music and family activities.
Arts and crafts vendors will offer items such as pottery, handmade jewelry, and home decor. Discover unique finds for mom just in time for Mother’s Day! Non-profit groups are offering family activities including crafts, painting, cornhole, and face painting. The YMCA will offer yoga at Bridgepoint Plaza at noon. Bring your dog for a paw portrait activity with The Sweet Cocoon. Java Joy will offer tie-dye T-shirts for sale in addition to coffee.
Non-profit groups include: Habitat for Humanity, Haven Health, Alton Holman Heritage Arts, The Sweet Cocoon, Compassionate Paws, Shakespeare Festival, Boy Scouts, PFLAG of Rome, Java Joy, and the Rome Area Council for the Arts. 
Enjoy a full day of live music entertainment from local musicians located throughout Broad Street. Savannah Crabbe, Gene Ingram, Fischer Lord, and Jason Lyles will play from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.  LoDown, Phil Helton, Wade Forrester, and AJ Pierce will play from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. 
The Sulzbacher Roman Holiday riverboat is offering trips along Rome’s rivers at 1 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. Tickets are $12 each and depart from the Heritage Park boat dock. Purchase tickets online at www.downtownromega.use/events/artsfest

We encourage everyone to support the businesses who help make this event possible. The event is free thanks to our Downtown Business and property owners (BID). Come hungry to enjoy a fabulous meal at one of our downtown restaurants. Shop a large variety of retailers and sidewalk sales at our downtown shops.
Broad Street will not be closed to traffic. Please keep in mind the three-hour per day street parking limit. Free all-day parking is available at the 4th Ave Parking Deck. The event is pet-friendly, but please remember to utilize downtown clean-up stations and pick-up after your furry friends.
