ROME-FLOYD PARKS AND RECREATION’S COMPREHENSIVE PLAN ONLINE SURVEY IS NOW LIVE

(Media release from Rome-Floyd Parks and Recreation):

A road map for the future of parks and recreation in Rome and Floyd County is beginning to take shape, but more input is needed to help flesh it out.

More than 150 people have already participated in three community meetings and given their thoughts and wishes as to the future of facilities, parks, programs and more for local recreation. Now, everyone is invited to fill out a brief online survey with the link at rfpra.com.

“We would like to thank everyone who came out to the meetings or came out to the Backyard BBQ Bash and took part in the in-person program,” Parks and Recreation Director Todd Wofford says. “We know everyone is busy, so we are also offering the online option. This way, everyone gets a chance to voice their opinion for the future of parks and recreation. The other important thing to remember is that if you don’t participate in the survey or the meetings, we won’t be able to take your opinion into account.”

Lose Design from Lawrenceville is conducting the comprehensive plan and began gathering information on the area and facilities in late 2021. The findings of the plan will be unveiled later this year.

A few highlights of wants after the meetings include more pickle ball courts, turf fields for sports like football, baseball, softball and soccer as well as futsal courts, lighted soccer fields, more outdoor swimming alternatives and more senior programming.

The roughly 25-question survey takes about 5 to 10 minutes to finish. Be on the lookout for signs at fields and parks with a QR code allowing everyone to scan it on their phones and complete the survey on their mobile devices.

The survey will remain open until late May but be sure to take it early as the more input gained from the local population allows a better idea of the future of recreation in Rome and Floyd County.
