ATLANTA BRAVES OPEN SEVEN-GAME HOMESTAND WITH LOSS TO THE PHILADELPHIA PHILLIES

The Atlanta Braves opened a seven-game homestand on Monday night with a loss to the Philadelphia Phillies 7-3 in the first game of a four-game National League East series at Truist Park.

It was a tough (and brief) night on the mound for Tucker Davidson, who was charged with the loss for Atlanta after surrendering five earned runs and four hits, walking four, and striking out two over just two and two-third innings of work. Atlanta-area native Zack Wheeler struck out 10 en route to the win for Philadelphia.

Rhys Hoskins led the charge offensively for Philly with a three-run double in the top of the first.

Dansby Swanson, Austin Riley, and Ozzie Albies each hit RBI singles for the Braves.

The Phillies have taken sole possession of second place in the NL East with a record of 20-22, while the Braves are now in third place at 19-23. The teams will meet again tonight at 7:20 pm. Listen on WLAQ 1410 AM/96.9 FM; air time is 6:05 pm.

Philadelphia is eight games back from the division-leading New York Mets, while the Braves (and the Miami Marlins) are nine games back.

In a minor league update, the Rome Braves had a scheduled off-day Monday and will continue their current 12-game road trip this evening with the first of six games in Wappingers Falls, NY versus the Hudson Valley Renegades. The first pitch is slated for 6:05 pm.
