UGA EXTENSION URGES FLOCK OWNERS TO PREVENT AVIAN INFLUENZA IN GEORGIA

(From the University of Georgia Extension):

High Path Avian Influenza (HPAI) has been identified in Georgia. HPAI was found in a non-commercial poultry flock. Information regarding HPAI is available on our Avian Flu webpage at: https://extension.uga.edu/topic-areas/animal-production/poultry-eggs/avian-flu.html  We strongly encourage small flock owners to immediately implement biosecurity measures on their property and curtail interactions with other birds both wild and domestic for the time being to minimize the spread of this disease. In particular, pay attention to footwear – use cleanable/disinfectable footwear or disposable boots and footbaths at their chicken coops.
