CHIEFTAINS MUSEUM/MAJOR RIDGE HOME GEARING UP FOR ANNUAL HERB AND PLANT SALE, SET FOR APRIL 15TH AND 16TH

Local gardeners will be able to stock up for Spring and support a National Historic Landmark during the annual Herb and Plant Sale to be hosted by the Chieftains Museum/Major Ridge Home on April 15th and 16th. The sale will be held rain or shine in the Village Building at the Coosa Valley Fairgrounds in Rome. Hours are 9 am to 4 pm on Saturday and noon to 3 pm on Sunday.

Proceeds from the sale will support the initiatives and upkeep of the museum, says Olivia Cawood, Executive Director.

According to event details from the museum –

The sale will feature a wonderful selection of herbs, native, and unique heirloom plants as well as several varieties of tomatoes. Plenty of annuals and perennials will be available, allowing customers a chance to refresh their sun or shade plants after this latest cold snap. Knowledgeable volunteers and Master Gardeners will be present to help you select the right herbs and plants for your garden.

Shoppers may also purchase beautiful containers at the sale or bring their own clean pots for our experienced crew of gardeners to design and plant on-site for an additional fee.

Credit and debit cards will be accepted in addition to checks and cash.

Shoppers are encouraged to get a copy of the book Major Ridge’s Garden, written by Ginny Word with artwork by Karen Jordan. It offers useful tips on how to care for and enjoy the plants featured at the Herb and Plant Sale, says Word.

Copies of the book will be sold at the Herb and Plant Sale at the cost of $15 each. The book will be available for purchase after the sale in the gift shop of the Chieftains Museum/Major Ridge Home for $20.

An event pre-sale will be open to members of the museum on Friday, April 14th from 5 pm to 8 pm, says Cawood.
