Pre-enrollment for the Northwest Georgia Charter Academy for the 2026-27 school year is now underway through October 31st.
Dawn Williams, Superintendent/Principal, says that pre-enrollment is the first step towards enrollment. The seats are limited. A lottery may be necessary to determine enrollment, depending upon the number of applications for each grade level.
The free public charter school is open to all students in Rome, Floyd County, and Polk County. All applicants will be notified during the first week of November if they have a seat. A lottery, if needed, will be held on November 17th.
Grades K-5 will be served next school year, and grades 6-12 will be added later.
Interested parties may get more details and/or complete the pre-enrollment form at www.nwgacharteracademy.org.
Judy Taylor, Founder and Governing Board Member, states that, in general, the public charter schools in Georgia have increased flexibility and increased accountability.
The first day of classes at the Northwest Georgia Charter Academy is set for August 3, 2026. The school will be housed in the Dillard Building located on the Georgia School for the Deaf campus.
