AAA: GEORGIA PUMP PRICES HAVE RISEN OVER THE PAST WEEK

Georgia’s gas prices are up this week as compared to last week, according to AAA, The Auto Club Group.  Motorists statewide are now paying an average price of $2.42 per gallon of regular unleaded, four cents more than last week, but seven cents less than this time last month and 30 cents less than this time last year.

It now costs $36.30 to fill a 15-gallon tank of gasoline.  That’s $6.30 less than what motorists paid last May, when pump prices hit their 2018 peak of $2.84 per gallon.

Montrae Waiters, spokeswoman for AAA, attests, “Gas prices last week saw volatility due to fluctuation with gasoline stocks.  This fluctuation in stocks lead to slight increases at the pump this week, but only by a few cents.”

The Energy Information Administration (EIA) reported that gasoline demand increased as stocks decreased last week.

Sunday’s national average of $2.57 per gallon of regular unleaded was a cent more than last week, but seven cents less than a month ago and 28 cents less than at the same time last year.
