BRAVES DROP FINAL REGULAR SEASON GAME AT SUNTRUST PARK TO GIANTS

The National League East-champion Atlanta Braves wrapped up their final homestand of the regular season with a loss to the San Francisco Giants 4-1 on Sunday afternoon at SunTrust Park.  It brought the Braves’ latest winning streak to an end at three straight victories and permitted the Giants to escape Atlanta without being swept in the three-game weekend series.

The game remained scoreless until the top of the sixth inning, during which the Giants scored three runs off Dallas Keuchel to include a two-run double by Joey Rickard.

Evan Longoria had an RBI double earlier that inning and contributed an RBI single off Luke Jackson in the seventh.

Adeiny Hechavarria scored the Braves’ only run of the game on a ground-out by Freddie Freeman in the bottom of the sixth.

Keuchel was charged with three runs (just two of them earned) and six hits, walked two and struck out four over six innings in the loss for Atlanta. Logan Webb was credited with the win, while Will Smith picked up the save for San Francisco.

The Braves are off today and will return to action on Tuesday night with the opener of a brief two-game interleague set in Kansas City against the Royals.  First pitch is scheduled for 8:15 pm.  The game will be broadcast on WLAQ 1410 AM and 96.9 FM; air time is set for 7 pm.

Freddie Freeman will not join the Braves for their series in Kansas City; he will instead remain behind in Atlanta to receive treatment for a bone spur in his right elbow that has plagued him in recent days.  He is expected to rejoin the team for their series in New York versus the Mets over the weekend.
