COOSA RIVER BASIN INITIATIVE HOPES TO REACH GOAL OF 500 NEW OR RENEWED MEMBERSHIPS SOON

The Coosa River Basin Initiative is working towards reaching a goal of 500 new or renewed memberships (hopefully) by the end of this month.

Ashley Ray, CRBI Outreach Coordinator, says that becoming a member is as easy as logging onto www.coosa.org/join or visiting the CRBI office, located at 5 Broad Street in downtown Rome.

The cost to become a member is $35 per individual, $50 for each family and $15 per student/senior.

Among the benefits of being a CRBI member – cleaner water, enthuses Ray.  Members also enjoy easy access to guided paddle trips.

As the organization reaches milestones in its efforts to increase membership, local artist Jess Millner will add more color and detail to his illustration of an Etowah Darter, says Ray.  The illustration may be viewed on the Coosa River Basin Initiative’s Facebook page.

Local businesses offer additional incentives to CRBI members, such as Cedar Creek RV and Outdoor Center and Blue Sky Outfitters.

Ray attests that the CRBI hopes to ultimately attain its 500-member goal by the time its annual Fish Fry rolls around; that event is scheduled for Saturday, November 23rd.

September is National Clean Up Month.  Ray indicates that a number of local organizations have held (and will continue to hold) clean-up events over this month.  The slate includes the CRBI’s member clean-up, which is scheduled for this Saturday, September 28th.  It is all a part of the Etowah Clean Sweep, which spans the entire month instead of just one day in September for 2019.
