UNITED WAY OF ROME AND FLOYD COUNTY WILL HOST FLOYD FIGHTS HUNGER EVENT ON OCTOBER 26TH

The United Way of Rome and Floyd County’s 2nd annual Floyd Fights Hunger event has been scheduled for Saturday, October 26th from 10 am until noon at Rome High School.  At least 150 volunteers are sought to pack meals, asserts Allison Mitchell, Executive Director.  Kylie Devaron, local musician and DJ,  will be at the event to entertain those who throw in a helping hand.

Volunteers will pack 60,000 meals this year to be distributed to the Salvation Army, Journey Food Pantry and Action Ministries Rome.  Those interested in volunteering their assistance are advised to visit the United Way of Rome and Floyd County’s Facebook page for more information.

Food comes from nonprofit Meals for Hope, whose owner Steve Popper was inspired to donate an additional 10,000 meals this year after viewing a speech by Johnson Elementary fourth grader Audrey Mitchell which had been posted on social media; the youngster spoke about Floyd Fights Hunger during a run for student council representative.
