BRAVES FALL TO CARDINALS IN GAME ONE OF NLDS

The Atlanta Braves fell to the St. Louis Cardinals 7-6 on Thursday evening in Game One of their National League Division Series at SunTrust Park.

The game was tied at 3-3 heading into the ninth.  The Cardinals notched four runs in the top of that inning on a pair of two-run doubles off Mark Melancon from Marcell Ozuna and Kolten Wong to take a 7-3 lead.  The Braves rallied in the bottom of the inning on a two-run homer from Ronald Acuna Jr.

Freddie Freeman also had a solo shot in the bottom of the ninth to put Atlanta within a run of St. Louis, but that’s as far as the Braves’ comeback went.  The Cardinals won the game, again, by a final score of 7-6.

It was a tough night for the Braves bullpen.  Melancon ended up with the loss for Atlanta.  Carlos Martinez held on to secure the win for St. Louis.

The Braves and the Cardinals will meet again this afternoon in Game Two of their NLDS.  First pitch is slated for 4:37 pm.  The game will be broadcast on WLAQ 1410 AM and 96.9 FM.  Air time is 3:20 pm.
