AUTHENTIC GERMAN CULTURE TO BE CELEBRATED AT ANNUAL OKTOBERFEST EVENT

Add a cultural experience to your time in downtown Rome this Saturday at the 2nd annual Oktoberfest to held at The Vogue, 247 Broad Street, from 6 pm until 9:30 pm.  It will be hosted by Harvest Moon Cafe.

An authentic German dinner will be served to those in attendance.  The menu was created by Harvest Moon’s Ginny Kibler and Thomas Kislat, a native of Germany who now resides in Rome.

Steve Smith from Harvest Moon says that a German street cafe will be set up around Mitchell Plaza during Fiddlin’ Fest so that downtown revelers may get a sneak preview of this Oktoberfest experience.

Kislat recommends that attendees give the currywurst a try.  This delicacy is a staple among German street foods.

Schnitzel, sauerkraut, and apple strudel will be served at the dinner, indicates Kislat.  And, of course, the beer will be served in steins.  There will also be live music by The Little German Band, an oompa band from North Carolina, as well as Rome native Timothy Reynolds.

There are many folks with German roots around Rome, Georgia, says Kislat, who adds that he looks forward to sharing German culture with locals during the 2nd annual Oktoberfest.

Tickets are $49 each and may be purchased at Harvest Moon Cafe or online at www.myharvestmooncafe.com.  Get tickets now!  Kislat indicates that the event sold out last year.
