WASHINGTON NATIONALS ARE WORLD SERIES-BOUND

The Washington Nationals are bound for the World Series.  The Nats secured their spot in the 2019 Fall Classic with a 7-4 win over the St. Louis Cardinals in the National League Championship Series on Tuesday night in Washington DC.  It is the first pennant in franchise history.

Washington, which entered the postseason as the NL Wild Card, took the title with a clean sweep of St. Louis.  Howie Kendrick was named the MVP of the NLCS.

The Nationals will proceed to face either the Houston Astros or the New York Yankees in the World Series.  The Astros currently lead the American League Championship Series 2-1 over the Yankees.

This will mark the first Fall Classic in Washington DC since 1933, when the Senators were in town.
