When the Wings Over North Georgia air show returns next fall to the Russell Regional Airport, it’s bringing air racing with it.
The 2020 air show here in Rome will mark the debut of the newly-developed AirShow Racing Series. Just like NASCAR, the series will result in winners and losers, and give fans something to root for, says John Cowman, President of JLC AirShow Management.
JLC AirShow Management officially obtained accreditation from the Federal Aviation Administration on October 1st to produce air races at public events,
following months of development and a test run at Rome’s airport over Labor Day weekend.
The inaugural race will take place at the Wings Over North Georgia air show next October. Cowman hopes to expand this series to multiple venues across the nation in 2021.
The AirShow Racing Series will consist of two classes of racing: Super Sport and Extreme Sport.
