ANNUAL WALK A MILE IN HER SHOES SET FOR THIS FRIDAY

The local observation of Domestic Violence Awareness Month will continue with the 12th annual Walk A Mile In Her Shoes event on Friday, October 25th.  Men are encouraged to wear their best high heels to promote awareness and support for the victims of domestic violence.  Online registration is closed, but people may still register in person for the walk.  Registration will begin at 11 am at Rotary Plaza, and the walk will begin at noon.

Denise Downer-McKinney, Chief of the Rome Police Department and chair of this year’s Walk A Mile, asserts that the event is a lighthearted way to put participants in the shoes of those afflicted by domestic violence, both female and male.

Event details are available on Facebook; search for Walk A Mile 2019.  The event will be hosted by Hospitality House for Women, Inc.
