NATIONALS TAKE GAME ONE OF 2019 WORLD SERIES

The Washington Nationals defeated the Houston Astros 5-4 in Game One of the 2019 World Series on Tuesday night in Houston, Texas.

Juan Soto homered and drove in a total of three runs for the Nationals in their first World Series appearance of franchise history.  Ryan Zimmerman also hit  a home run for Washington.  The Astros’ George Springer set a record with a home run in his fifth straight World Series game.

Gerrit Cole was charged with the loss for Houston; it marked the end of a 19-game winning streak that dated back to late May.  Max Scherzer was credited with the win, while Sean Doolittle got the save for Washington.

Game two of the Fall Classic is scheduled for tonight at 8:07 pm in Houston.  It will be televised on FOX.
