The Washington Nationals beat the Houston Astros 12-3 on Wednesday night in Game Two of the World Series in Houston, which allowed the Nationals to take a 2-0 lead in the series.
Washington took a commanding lead in the outing with six runs in the top of the seventh, a rally that began with a solo home run from Kurt Suzuki. Adam Eaton had a two run homer in the eighth inning, and Michael A. Taylor added a solo shot in the top of the ninth.
Alex Bregman hit a two-run homer for Houston which tied the game at 2-2 in the bottom of the first. Martin Maldonado had a solo shot in the ninth.
Stephen Strasburg nabbed the win for the Nationals; it was his fourth straight postseason victory. Justin Verlander took the loss for the Astros, although he notched his 200th career strikeout in the second to surpass the previous record of 199 postseason strikeouts set by John Smoltz.
Game Three in the best-of-seven Fall Classic will be played this Friday night in Washington. First pitch is set for 8:07 pm.
