TRACK FALL COLOR STATEWIDE VIA LEAF WATCH 2019

Fall color is beginning to emerge around North Georgia.  This emergence is tracked by Georgia State Parks and Historic Sites via their Leaf Watch 2019 feature, available online at www.gastateparks.org and on social media.  Kim Hatcher, Public Affairs Coordinator, says that visitors and park rangers have been submitting a plethora of beautiful pictures over recent days, many from around the mountains of Northeast Georgia.

So are we anywhere near the peak of fall color for 2019?  That remains to be seen, asserts Hatcher.  Peak color usually occurs around late October to early November.  Vivid color may remain through the middle of November.  Some trees have already lost their leaves, but Hatcher urges park visitors to remain vigilant – you never know when you might turn the corner to find absolutely captivating color.

Hatcher additionally encourages leaf watchers to visit the Leaf Watch feature to discover the top 10 parks for fall color, view a listing of fall events at parks around the state and search for accommodations.

Be sure to share your pictures with Georgia State Parks and Historic Sites on Facebook and Instagram, using the hashtag #GaLeafWatch.  They might even be featured on Leaf Watch 2019.
