RAIN NOT ANTICIPATED TO STOP THE LOCAL CELEBRATION OF HALLOWEEN 2019

It’s Halloween!  A rainy forecast is not likely to stop the celebration, although one local event has been moved indoors.  Rome-Floyd Parks and Recreation’s Truck or Treat event, which was originally scheduled to be held at Ridgeferry Park, is now slated to take place at the Thornton Center, located at 102 North Floyd Park Road in Armuchee.  The doors will open at 5 pm.  Festivities will continue until 7:30 pm and will include two inflatables, music and a costume contest.  There will, of course, be plenty of candy, in addition to a concession stand.  Truck or Treat is free to the public!

Rome’s Downtown Development Authority has announced via social media that the Downtown Trick-or-Treat event will be held rain or shine today from 3 pm until 5 pm.  Businesses around downtown Rome will handing out candy to trick-or-treaters.  Families may also head to Cave Spring for some trick-or-treating today.

Tim Herrington, Director of Floyd County Emergency Management Agency, reminds parents to check their kids’ candy before the youngsters dig into their loots this evening.

Rainfall today is anticipated to taper off into the evening hours, according to the National Weather Service.  This will be accompanied by a sharp decrease in temperatures.
