IT’S ELECTION DAY IN THE CITY OF ROME!

Today is Election Day in the City of Rome!  Polls remain open from 7 am to 7 pm.  Voters will determine the fate of six posts in Wards One and Three of the Rome City Commission.  Candidates for Ward One include Bill Irmscher, Milton Slack and Sundai Stevenson; the incumbents are being challenged by Mark Cochran and Jim Bojo.  Ward Three candidates include the incumbents Bill Collins and Craig McDaniel, as well as challengers JJ Walker Seifert and Bonny Askew.  Also on the ballot – the Sunday ‘brunch bill’.  If it is passed by voters, local restaurants would be permitted to begin serving alcohol at 11 am (as opposed to the current 12:30 pm) on Sundays.

State Representative Eddie Lumsden urges all Romans to exercise their right to vote; he acknowledges that many people around the world do not have this freedom.

Lumsden represents the 12th District in the Georgia House of Representatives.  He has no dog in this particular fight, as he resides in Armuchee.  He will not be up for re-election until next year.
