SNITKER A FINALIST FOR NL MOY, SOROKA IN THE RUNNING FOR NL ROY; BRAVES MAKE ROSTER MOVES

In MLB news, Atlanta Braves manager Brian Snitker is in the running for his second straight National League Manager of the Year Award.  He was chosen as one of three finalists for this year’s award by the BBWAA (or the Baseball Writers Association of America).  Braves pitcher Mike Soroka is one of three finalists for the NL Rookie of the Year Award.  The 2019 ROY is slated to be announced on Monday, November 11th; announcement of MOY is scheduled for the very next day.

In roster moves from the Braves, the team has re-signed Nick Markakis and Tyler Flowers to one-year deals (worth $4 million each) after declining both of the players’ team options for the 2020 season.  They have also extended a qualifying offer to Josh Donaldson and declined the options for Julio Teheran and Billy Hamilton.
