The 2nd annual Winter Wonderland Carnival and Ice Festival will be held over this weekend at the Town Green and at the Forum River Center in downtown Rome. Event hours are 10 am until 10 pm on Saturday and from 10 am until 6 pm on Sunday.
This festival is being presented by AMP Rome with the theme of “Season of Peace”. It will be highlighted by educational and art exhibits, craft vendors, food vendors, and children’s activities. Admission is free, enthuses organizer Mark Van Leuven.
While you are in the area, take a spin around the ice rink at the Forum River Center. The Forum on Ice officially opened on Sunday and will remain open throughout the holiday season. Van Leuven attests that it is affordable fun for the whole family.
A 100 foot ice slide is a part of the Forum on Ice festivities this year. A daily schedule of ice rink hours is posted online at www.forumrivercenter.com.
AMP Rome is an umbrella organization that incorporates several elements of community activism, including Turn Your Back on Hate and The PERC, says Van Leuven.
