TWELVE TRAFFIC FATALITIES REPORTED ACROSS GEORGIA OVER THANKSGIVING HOLIDAY TRAVEL PERIOD

Traffic crashes across the state during the Thanksgiving holiday travel period resulted in a total of 12 traffic deaths, according to a release from the Georgia Department of Public Safety.  The 102-hour period began at 6 pm Wednesday and concluded at 11:59 pm on Sunday.

State troopers investigated 556 traffic crashes statewide which resulted in 214 injuries and nine fatalities.  In addition, 325 people were arrested for driving under the influence.

There were no fatalities reported over the Thanksgiving holiday travel period in Troop A, which covers Northwest Georgia.

Local agencies that also reported traffic deaths included Clayton County PD, South Fulton PD, and Henry County PD.
