LOCAL NON-PROFIT PLEDGES SUPPORT OF ONE OF THEIR OWN ON GIVING TUESDAY

Local non-profits joined human service agencies around the country to rally support (and funds) on Giving Tuesday, December 3rd.  One organization has pledged to continue their support of one of their own.  Tenia Shaw, the Victim Service Coordinator for the Sexual Assault Center of NWGA, recently had a kidney transplant. She has suffered from polycystic kidney disease (or PKD), a disease for which there is no cure.  This kidney transplant was necessary to keep her alive.

Kimberly King, SACNWGA Executive Director, attests that Tenia Shaw is a fighter, and the center stands with her in her battle towards recovery.

Shaw may never be able to personally thank her kidney donor; however, the donation of that kidney was an incredible gift, says King.

Updates on Shaw are posted on the Facebook page Tenia’s Kidney Transplant Journey.  A link is on the page to Shaw’s Go Fund Me account for anyone that would like to make a donation to help offset the cost of the transplant, asserts King.
