In arts and entertainment headlines for the holidays, the Rome Little Theatre’s production of “The Best Christmas Pageant Ever” will open this Friday night at the historic DeSoto Theatre on Broad Street. It will run for two weekends. Friday and Saturday night shows will start at 8 pm, and Sunday matinees will begin at 2:30 pm.
All involved learn a little about the true meaning of Christmas when the wild Herdman kids show up at church to get free snacks and end up taking over its Christmas pageant. Alexis Arthur, who portrays church kid Beth, asserts that the pageant turns out better than expected.
“The Best Christmas Pageant Ever” is based on the best-selling novel written by Barbara Robinson.
There will be a number of shows for local schools. Clients from the William S. Davies Homeless Shelter will be on hand for tonight’s rehearsal.
If you plan to attend the show, bring along a donation for the Davies Shelter, Hospitality House for Women, Inc. and/or the Salvation Army. Items will be gathered for these non-profits at the theatre during box office hours, indicates Chris Davidson, RLT Executive Director.
For a list of needed items, contact the theatre at (706) 295-7171. Tickets for “The Best Christmas Pageant Ever” are available at the box office and online at www.romelittletheatre.com. The cost is $16 for adults, $14 for students and seniors, and $12 for children under 13. Each ticket will have an additional $2 processing fee.
