Georgia’s gas prices have declined during the past week, according to AAA, The Auto Club Group. Motorists statewide are now paying an average price of $2.42 per gallon of regular unleaded gasoline; that is two cents less than a week ago and one cent less than last month, but 20 cents more than this time last year.
It now costs $36.30 to fill a 15-gallon tank of gasoline. That’s $6.30 less than what motorists paid in May of 2018, when pump prices hit last year’s peak of $2.84 per gallon.
Montrae Waiters, AAA spokeswoman, states, “Gasoline stocks have steadily increased the past few weeks as gasoline demand has started to slow. This trend is creating cheaper gas prices for the majority of motorists.”
Sunday’s national average was $2.57 per gallon of regular unleaded. That is two cents less than last week and five cents less than at this time last month, but 15 cents more than this time last year.
