ROME POLICE PREPARE FOR RAMPED-UP ENFORCEMENT EFFORT FOR THE HOLIDAY SEASON

Local law enforcement are preparing for ramped-up enforcement efforts just for the holidays.

According to a release from the Rome Police Department:

Operation Zero Tolerance is enforced 24-7-365, although special enforcement periods are additionally used to target travel periods when impaired driving, distracted driving and seat belt usage can have a major impact on roadways.  An OZT operation period will begin this Friday, December 13th and continue through January 1, 2020.  Traffic volumes are typically at the highest levels during these peak travel and holiday periods.  Officers will be utilizing traffic safety checkpoints and concentrated patrols to target high crash corridors that have been identified through crash data analysis.

A few words of advice from the RPD – don’t drink and drive, put your phone down and buckle up!
