AAA:  GEORGIA’S GAS PRICES ARE HOLDING STEADY HEADING INTO CHRISTMAS

Georgia’s gas prices are holding steady as we are heading towards Christmas, according to AAA, The Auto Club Group, which reports that motorists across the state are now paying an average of $2.38 per gallon of regular unleaded.  That’s one cent less than a week ago, four cents less than a month ago, and 24 cents more than this time last year.

It now costs $35.70 to fill a 15-gallon tank of gasoline.  That’s $6.90 less than what motorists paid in May of 2018, when pump prices hit last year’s peak of $2.84 per gallon.

Montrae Waiters, Spokewoman for AAA, states, “As stocks continue to grow, while demand remains robust, pump prices across the nation are likely to hold steady or drop through the week.”

Waiters adds, “While that will offer savings to motorists, it is not as much as they saw last December. Gas prices are more expensive year-over-year in part due to higher crude prices this winter over last.”

The national average price per gallon of regular unleaded is $2.54; that’s one cent less than last week, five cents less than this time last month and 21 cents more than last year.
