RAIN EXPECTED TO GIVE WAY TO MILD CHRISTMAS IN GREATER ROME

Rain is expected to persist across Greater Rome to start the week, but it will give way to sunshine and mild temperatures for Christmas.

The National Weather Service predicts an 80 percent chance of rain for today with highs in the upper 50s and wind gusts as high as 20 miles per hour.  That chance of rain drops to 50 percent tonight; it will be accompanied by mostly cloudy skies with lows in the mid 40s.  Christmas Eve and Christmas Day are both expected to be sunny with highs in the mid 60s.

Just under two and three-quarter inches of rain fell at the Richard B. Russell Regional Airport/Admiral John H. Towers Field in Rome from Saturday night through just before 6 am this morning.
